How many ways can sunlight break through low-hanging mist? How many times can you watch clouds slowly envelop an entire forest? Endlessly, according to award-winning nature photographer and filmmaker Vincent Munier (The Velvet Queen).
Munier heads back to the forests of the Vosges in France where his father taught him about nature as a teenager - how to look, and above all, how to listen. Vincent’s son is now the same age he was at the time. We follow three generations of the Munier family in the vast forests for an intergenerational rite of passage in nature. Waiting and watching, the whispers of the woods are echoing the whispers passed from Munier’s father to himself, and now to his own son.
A box-office sensation in France, this unforgettable nature film pairs breathtaking imagery with an award-winning score by Warren Ellis. Delving deep into the woodland realms, where lynxes, bears, deer, owls, and other forest creatures roam, Munier’s film not only seeks to pay tribute to the visual splendour of nature but also to capture the forest’s sounds, and our place, as observers and witnesses.
Winner of the 2026 César Awards, Best Documentary & Best Sound
"An incredibly immersive film that captures the magical beauty of nature while also showcasing its fragility." - Out Now
