Rewilding has revived wolf populations in Europe, marking a triumph for conservation but also igniting fierce debate - should they be protected or controlled?
In Northern Italy, the divide runs deep. Professor Luca Rossi has dedicated his career to studying wolves, but his findings pull against his emotions as he moves between defenders and opponents of rewilding. In this landscape of traditional transhumant shepherds, rangers, biologists, and hunters, there are no easy answers, only sharply different visions.
Winner of eight international awards and directed with sensitivity and balance by biologist-turned-filmmaker Samer Angelone, this documentary leads us into the lives of different characters whose daily work is intertwined with wolves, exploring the fine line between coexistence and conflict.
"This movie comes as a wake-up call. [...] We simply need stories that reimagine the Big Bad Wolf and this is a fine example.” - EXO
Winner Best Nature & Environment Film at the 2025 Autrans Film Festival
This screening is presented by the Italian Cultural Institute Sydney.
Our Wolves is one of the five films competing for the first Green Frame Nature Documentary Award.
You can watch the five competing films for $99 with a Green Frame Nature Documentary Pass.
