OPENING FILM: Whistle
The most uplifting music documentary you'll see this year, and the 2026 Bangalow Film Festival's opening night film!
An eccentric group of international virtuoso whistlers descend on Hollywood to compete in the Masters of Musical Whistling, the world’s greatest whistling competition.
Among the international participants are Japan’s Yuki Takeda, a regular contender who has repeatedly come in second; Spain’s Ayna Ziordia Botella, the daughter of a circus performer, who has nurtured hopes of winning since childhood; Jay Winston, who gave up on Broadway dreams to teach at a New Jersey high school; and Australian Molly Lewis, a Los Angeles–based performer and a celebrity in the whistling world, who whistled in the movie Barbie and recorded the album On the Lips.
Egos clash, notes soar, tears flow, but only one can be crowned the ultimate whistling champion. This is it! The film about competitive whistling you didn't know you needed!
"Whistle is a bright light, reminding us to find joy in this increasingly turbulent world." – But Why Tho?
