Surf classics day: All Down the Line + Q&A
Acclaimed as one of the finest surfing movies of the past decade, All Down the Line features two-time world champion Tom Carroll and a crew of young up-and-coming surfers as they take us on a very personal "surfing safari". Through their conversations and narration, we share the adrenalin rush, as well as the philosophy and spirit, that make surfing one of the fastest growing water sports around.
From the opening scene of Tom Carroll almost free-falling down the face of a Banzai Pipeline wave, to the closing sequences of this same amazing surfer moving at spell-binding speed through 15-foot Indonesian surf, this movie does not let you go! In between, All Down the Line presents totally enthralling surf action in Java, Hawaii, and Australia, set to driving contemporary music and breathtaking cinematography amidst some of the world's best surf breaks.
The film will be screened in brand new digitally remastered version and followed by a Q&A with the director Paul Witzig and special guests!
Surf Classics Day is presented in collaboration with FriendsLab.
Friends Lab is an artist run Super 8 and 16mm group in the Northern Rivers, dedicated to the preservation of analog film and technology. The group centres around preserving the history of film through screenings and events, and hosts workshops to support the next generation of traditional and experimental analog filmmaking.
For the occasion we will make the A&I Hall a screen with Super 8 looping projection of surf footage shot by local artists! Shot on Kodak Ektachrome and hand developed by FriendsLab.
