Witness the enchanting marine world through a blend of music, dance, and oceanic imagery and dive into ocean conservation with inspiring keynotes

Create by an award-winning immersive media director/producer, composer and Ocean activist Joshua Sam Miller, Sounds of the Ocean blends breathtaking recordings of whales and dolphins to create an immersive meditative journey 'beneath the sea.'

The screening of Sounds of the Ocean will be presented with a live score by WHAIA.
WHAIA is a Sonic Weaver, vocalist, and Indigenous Maori artist whose work bridges ancestral wisdom with contemporary performance. Drawing on her Polynesian heritage and deep connection to the ocean, she creates powerful live sonic experiences using voice, TAONGA PŪORO, and crystal singing bowls. In this solo presentation of Sounds of the Ocean, she offers a live vocal score to film, embodying the voices of whales, dolphins, and the living sea.
Her practice extends beyond performance into global advocacy. WHAIA has worked alongside A Wisdom Keeper Delegation within United Nations and COP climate forums, contributing Indigenous perspectives to international policy conversations.

"Sounds of the Ocean deeply connects guests with the elements of water and the ocean, which is so important as people protect what they love ” - Lea d’Auriol, Founder Oceanic Global

This extraordinary film concert will be introduced by a panel on marine conservation and by two short films.

Panel participants: Belinda Baggs (Surfers for Climate), Tim Silverwood (Take 3), and WHAIA.

Short films:

Wild Waves Forever (dir. Johnny Abegg)
Hard to believe, but there's still waves around Australia that most surfers will never see, let alone ride. Remote breaks that exist far from cafes, carparks and crowds. On a planet where every decent spot seems to be busy nowadays, these wild waves are becoming rarer by the year, making them worth preserving. Scott Reef, hundreds of kilometres off the WA coast, is one of them. And right now, Woodside wants to turn it into an industrial gas field.

The Next Wave (dir. Harry Triglone)
The Next Wave follows Take 3 CEO Tim Silvewood as he gathers insights from ambassadors, experts and changemakers to explore how communities can become stronger forces against overconsumption and plastic waste.
