In New Zealand’s heartland, teams of aspiring female rugby players must shatter glass ceilings both on and off the field to achieve their improbable dream of international glory.
We all know the Black Ferns, the six-time Women's World Rugby champions, but where did it all start for these elite athletes? They started out playing grassroots rugby on a scrappy paddock somewhere. Award-winning filmmaker Lisa Burd takes us back to the heart and start of women’s rugby with her heartfelt portrait of grassroots rugby in the shadow of Mt Taranaki.
No Tears on the Field follows four young women and their quest for success on and off the field. It is an up-close look at women’s rugby and its competitive beginnings. In this scrum, sisterhood is the strategy. You will be cheering for them from the sideline!
“A roaring tribute to heart, grit, and grassroots glory. It will leave audiences proud, pumped, and ready to grab a ball and run.” - Spicy Pulp Mag
